TECH MVSIT 2 k9- One Day Workshop on Recent Advance in Engineering at Dr. M.V. Shetty Institute of Technology Thodar, - 10th Nov. 2009
“64 percent of Engineering degree holders are not fit for Industrial requirements” – Scientist M. L. Sidana, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore.
Mr. Sidana inaugurated one day workshop at MVSIT, Thodar and in his key note address informed that Indian GDP was 50% during 1750 and it came down to 3% in 1973 and it will reach about 16% in 2010. He said that the raw engineers are not upto the mark for industrial needs and they need training as per needs of the industry. His talk emphasized on “challenges and opportunities for engineering technologies in the content of National Security.” He has also released the proceedings of the workshop containing 16 Technical papers.
Dr. Ramgopal Shetty, Secretary of the trust said that University Syllabus will not cover all the things required for practical life. Hence updating knowledge is need of the hour and these conferences will give scope for faculty and students to achieve in technical fields. After invocation, Dr. Prakash Karat welcomed, Mr. Guruprasad introduced the guests. Mr. Siddamal briefed about the details of workshop. Principal Dr. Sandeep Nayak, Dr. Ranjit Shetty, Dr. Jayaram Hegde were present on the dais.
Mr. Sidana distributed prizes to the winners of Callisto 09 & Quiz competition.
Four Technical Sessions were held after the Inaugural function.

- Energy Trends in Information Technology by Dr. Nagesh H.R.
- Computer Vision by Smt. Sharmila Kumari M
- Object Oriented Concepts by Mr. Giridhar N.
About 200 faculty & students from Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Mangalore participated in the workshop. |
