PRESERVE PLANET EARTH” (VANAMAHOTSAVA) In MVSIT Thodar, Moodabidri

Vanamahotsava a great festival of tree planting was organized at Dr. M. V. Shetty Institute of Technology, Thodar on 4th August 2009. Even though we receive 3500mm of rainfall in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, it is confined to 4 months (June-September) and people here face acute shortage of water during March to May. Hence simple way of solving this problem is either artificial recharging groundwater or by plantation. Plantation of trees prevents soil erosion and increases infiltration so that groundwater table will increase. In this regard Shri K. Abhayachandra Jain, Hon’ble MLA of Mulki Moodbidri constituency and chief whip of opposition Karnataka assembly inaugurated the plantation ceremony. Secretary of Dr.M.V. Shetty Trust Dr. M Ramgopal Shetty , Trustee Dr. Divyanjali Shetty , Administrative Officer Dr. Chandrashekar Shetty , Panchayat member Shri Divakar Shetty, Principal Dr. Sandeep J. Nayak , Professors and all the faculty members of MVSIT participated in this grand programme. Plantation Drive will be continued at different places in and around the campus in future.
